I have a south bend 13" lathe and I have disassembed the headstock for cleaning. I would like to know what is the reassembly procedure.
Aside from putting everything back precisely where it came from (which I already understand), there are two small flat blade set screws which set the clearance on the headstock bronze bearings. There are two larger allen screws that lock them down afterwards.
What is the procedure for tightening all of this in so the clearances end up correct?
Oh and how do you guarantee that the oil wicks protrude correctly through the aforementioned bushings and make contact with the headstock bearing surface?
TIA
