Everything was installed yesterday. It's so much quieter than the old one that you can barely hear it running. It was running at between 25%-38% capacity the times I was checking it last night, so that's a good sign. It was 80 degrees upstairs when they finished the install and it didn't take long at all to drop to 72 degrees.

As soon as it warms up some more here, I need to do some pressure washing!

Eureka!

I just picked up a brand new replacement 4 ton R22 Condenser unit in my Avalanche...

It was new old stock built August 2014 and dry charged with nitrogen. (Checked and it's still charged.) When my present 7 year old Guardian unit fails, I'll simply replace it this. It was described as a Carrier unit. But the model number indicates it may be a Heil unit made in Mexico. Four ton 13 SEER rating with 230 Volt 3-phase 60 Hz power. I'll have to use a VFC or run wires from my garage shop for the 3-phase. The cost of this unit was $450.00 is all... And having a stash of 200 pounds of R22, I'll be good for years..

Good deal! R-22, scroll compressor, NOS, dry charged which keeps the system clear of air and moisture. Great snag!

This weekend will probably be the first test of our new heat pump for cooling.

Anything I should know before using it as an air conditioner for the first time?

We had it installed a couple of months ago. So far has been working great.

Nope, I leave mine set to auto with a 5 or 6 degree spread in the A/C vs Heat setpoints. Depending on how many months it's been, you might be due for a return filter change soon.
