Heat shrink printer for labeling wiring

Ive used about every brand under the sun and have found these to be the best in no real order.Panduit,Brady,3M, T&B
do the repeat,then add 3 spaces,doing the correction for sequential IDs, then print 20 or so at a time,then get out the scissors. It saves a lot of material.

You were right. I got a reversible power supply now. The only thing I see when plugging it in is the battery icon disappears for a half sec then comes back, steady. Sound right?

Strangely the only quality issue i have so far is with the vinyl (not heat shrink tube) the dymo came with. It has a crease on the back where the sticker backing peels and its causing a miss in printing. Anyone seen this ?

Mine does the same thing, Dymo doesn't have a good answer and haven't seemed to care to correct the problem either. I've been able to get the crease to go away(mostly) if I get the cartridge warmed up before using it. I usually throw it in the truck for a while with the heat on before I need to print something. The other less permanent printer tapes don't seem to have this problem, only the "permanent" vinyl.
This is one of the reasons that when this thing finally dies I'm going to spend a couple hundred more for a Brady.

I've also noticed a fully charged battery seems to help with print quality too.

I’ve had success using an Epson colour label printer for wiring labels, and it works well for heat shrink too. The print quality is sharp, and the labels hold up great over time. The biggest benefit is being able to customize colors, which helps with organization. Just make sure you get the right heat shrink material that’s compatible. The setup is pretty straightforward, and it’s been a reliable option for me.

I have a Rhino, and have used the heatshrink cartridges. Haven't used it as much as I though, but mostly because it's limited to situations where the connector is NOT attached to the wiring yet, for example, it won't fit over the Cat cable connector, so you have to be able to put it over the cable, THEN crimp the connector on. If the connector/head is already on, you're SOL for heatshrink.

Because of that, I have mostly used it to make cable "flags" (ie. it prints it in small font perpendicular to the label, then wrap it on the cable). Though using it that way limits the number of letters it's capable of printing.

Yeah - it happens all the time with the vinyl, so unless I need the flexibility/stretch of the vinyl, I use the poly labels. I've tried OEM Dymo and aftermarket vinyl, and they all do the same. I do get a little better result by using BOLD font on vinyl.
