So I found this on c-clist, he doesn't know anything about it, the ad says its a 60k btu (he thinks)

Can anyone tell anything about it from rhe limited pics? How much would it be worth? He is asking $300

too much IMO. given it's sitting outside, he knows nothing about it etc. it has scrap value

Definitely not. Check out the thread I started. You can buy a brand new 80k for $20 more than that used unit or a 50k for $40 less. Free shipping...

New units are cheap and they come with a warranty and technical help line.

Plus, parts are readily available, and will be for years to come.

Run away.

I did ask him, he said they pulled it from a jobsite whete it was working fine, he is also willing to take 100 for it...

asking 3 but will take 1... that's a hefty drop in asking price.

personally I wouldn't touch it, unless you're a gambling man.it looks very old too.
you can do better with less risk IMO

If they gave it to you it’s still not worth the installation costs, unless you can install and do any repairs to it yourself. And that’s making sure the heat exchanger is intact.

I am wary of used heaters.

I installed a “free” natural gas wall heater a number of years ago.

Came home one day to find my teenage son working in the shop... the heater had developed a crack in the heat exchanger. Inexperienced kid didn’t recognize the signs of CO poisoning.

Lucky I came home and got him out of there before something terrible happened.

Free isn’t necessarily cheap.

New heaters are really quite a minimal cost of a total installation, ie gas lines, vents, electrical work, mounting hardware, etc

That heater doesn’t look to be power vented. I’d pass on that thing and get a brand new 80k unit for $319 shipped. A new unit with a warranty and power venting is worth $200 extra for sure.

it's an old f-series unit...maybe 75-100k....replaced many of those with cracked heat exchanger's...
