I have a new garage with blank slate I am trying to do most things up front. I know there will always be more to be done.

Gas Heater: I am thinking a 75k units heater, would you go separate combustion? High efficiency furnace? or what? If so what size gas line would you route 3/8" or 1/2" my whole house is copper so I will keep it the same.

How big is the garage going to be? What kind of insulation are you planning on? These are two of the main things that will need to be know to determine the size for the heater.

75 k - 1/2" up to 60' should be fine. Copper piping in Southern Cal is a no go. From what I understand in this region, the smell additive breaks down the copper.

Good luck

Copper is commonly used in Minnesota, where the original poster is located.

I went with 3/4, since my run was 60-70 feet off of what I was tapping into

Copper is ok with propane here. No copper with natural gas in western NY. No galvanized, either. Permissible piping is either yellow flexible gas line or black pipe. I used black pipe because it is damage resistant. In FL, galvanized is common.
