I'm about to start building a 30x60x12 shop. My builder has quoted my shop with 3 inch white back reinforced insulation. I believe this is what is typically used in commercial metal buildings in my area (central Mississippi). What is the R value of this? I have been unable to find it searching online. Will this be adequate for a full time heated/ part time AC building?
I'm looking at going with a Big Maxx/ Hot Dawg style heater for full time heat, as in floor heat is overkill in my area (it's rarely cold long enough for an insulated building to get below freezing.) It will be kept at 45-50 degrees, just so it won't take long to get comfortable when I go out there. What size heater would I need? Would 2 smaller heaters be better? The ceiling is going to be open trusses if that matters. Also, the building is going to be post construction.
