Some quotes 5kw, others 10k heat strips. Getting condenser & furnace replaced. Not getting heat pump. Going with heat strips. 800 sq ft average insulated house.

Should i go 5 or 10kw? Oh yea this is florida, but i turn on heat when it touches mid to low 70sF

I think 5kw & 10awg for 30' 230v wire from breaker box w\30a dbl breaker.

3.41 btu's per watt
10 kw = 34,100 btu's 10kw @ 240vac =41.66 amps + blower
5 kw = 17,050 btu's. 5 kw @240vac = 21.33 amps + blower
Probably have a 5 kw and blower 4amps

5K will heat a 800 sqft garage here in North Dakota. I would think, in the sunshine state where a cold snap is 32F, 5 k would be plenty.
Why no heat pump? You are in a great climate for it.

No heat pump cuz in defrost mode heat strip & condenser on at same time. That would push total amperage draw well past my 100a service.

You were considering 10K heat strips. 5KW heat strips and a 1-1/2 or 2 ton HP should be about the same amp draw in defrost as the 10KW heat alone.

I would look hard at a HP and 5KW heat. You absolutely do not need 10KW in your part of the country.
