I have a decent size garage 30 x 40ft. I am interested to hear out there what kind of idea's are out there for heat during the winter months. The garage is metal corrugated siding and the roof also. Post your pictures and any installation tips and problems........

I have a 30 x 30 detached garage and I used a hanging gas heater I bought at Menards. I did put a concentric vent kit in to make it a little more efficient. The link is at the bottom of the post. My garage is fairly well insulated and I don't have any issues with it staying warm in the winter and the heater doesn't run that frequently. When it does run the noise is acceptable for garage use. The heater you need really depends on how you are going to use it and the level of insulation in the building. I keep mine set on 60 when I'm not using it because I have water run in the garage and don't want it to freeze. I turn it up when I'm working and it heats up to 65 in about 10 min.

More info would help. Is the building insulated? is is open to the roof inside (exposed trusses) or does it have a ceiling? Are the walls finished inside. Do you have LP (propane) or natural gas. How much electrical capacity do you have in the shop (100 amps, 200 amps, etc).

If its not insulated, you can pretty much forget heating it to a comfortable level, as you will be losing the heat as fast as the heaters make it.

TOO LITTLE INFO . . . . what "fuels" available in your area?? What price for each fuel ??

What construction type is detached garage . . . stick built, pole barn, etc??

What type and R values of insulation??

Post up PICs and you'll get best advice from fellow GJer's. Good luck.
