Heating an insulated attached 20x20x9 garage

I am going to be installing an electriic heater for occasional use this winter. It will NOT be on all the time. probably for a weekend day and maybe a day during the week. Sometimes just a few hours. I have a torpedo propane now and just tired of moving it and the tank around and plugging it in.
So my question(s) : anyone use the New Air g56 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_03213102000P?hlSellerId=4100 or should I go with the G73.
Also is it possible to hook up a different thermostat and possibly an on/off switch. I am planning on mounting it near my breaker box and running a 220 outlet over to it. Then just getting a plug for the heater. Guess I could just flip the breaker to shut it off.
Open to suggestions. pros/cons of either.

I don't have either of those, but I just installed 2 Fahrenheat 5000W heaters. I have a wall that separates my garage (24 x 40) into to sections. This way I can heat only one side when I'm working/out there. There is a thread on here that shows how you can run a thermostat and a off/on switch other than the one on the heater. I choice just to use the one on the heater as I can reach it without getting something to stand on. I just use the breaker to shut the heater completely off when I'm not around. I also shut the break off for my garage doors also, just in case someone is wanting to drive by clicking remotes to see what doors it will open. I got my heaters at Blain's Farm and Fleet. Cheapest price I seen and with shipping of $9.95 it was hard not to use them.

The price is right, from Northern Tool, but I would be concerned that it would not have enough power to get your garage up to a comfortable temp (50-60F) when it is really cold out. If you needed to run 2 of them do you have 60A available ?

A 50,000 BTU propane ceiling hung heater would be better, but a more expensive. Unless your electricity is very cheap, I think the propane would be more cost effective in the long run.

I ended up purchasing this heater from Farm & Fleet at the store. $170. I'll post up my results after it is installed and used a few times.

The price is right, from Northern Tool, but I would be concerned that it would not have enough power to get your garage up to a comfortable temp (50-60F) when it is really cold out. If you needed to run 2 of them do you have 60A available ?

Thanks for the input but I am not out in the garage that much and all the reviews I have read for 17000 BTU/5000 watt heaters electric heaters work fine for a garage my size. Propane would probably be cheaper to run if I was out in the garage quite a bit.

I'm curious how that heater will do for your garage. I have the same size garage as you and just got done insulating and drywalling it(I still have to insulate the ceiling however). I decided to purchase a 45kBTU Beacon Morris NG heater instead of going the electric heater route. I'm in the process of installing it right now. I'm sure it will be overkill, but my goal is to be in the garage in shorts and a t-shirt in the middle of winter. Keep us updated, I'm probably going to start my own thread as well since I took a bunch of pics of the progress.

I will update as it is installed and operational. My garage is fully insulated, drywalled, tapes and painted on all walls with an insulated door so I know that will help.
