Just like title says. It's basically a 32 x24x12 I am having trouble deciding what is the best option for heat and insulating. I have narrowed it down to a propane garage heater that hangs from the ceiling. It's going to be a Sterling or a Hot Dawg by Modine. Insulation is still up in the air. I have read a few threads and would like to do something like Bullnerd did with the blankets. The problem is I can't seem to find anyone that will sell the blanket insulation. Any ideas photos links will be greatly appreciated.

I would start by hiring a spray foam company and have them do 1-2" of foam along the edge of all of the posts and seams. It doesn't sound like much, but it is !

Spray foam is not in the budget.

That's what I thought too until I saw you can buy a kit and DIY! Especially when you start talking propane. You also should really check into an infro red tube heater. Much more efficient than most other shop types.

Is wood stove an option? I just built a barrel stove out of a 55 gal drum. Putting a second barrel on top of it for a heat exchanger. I will be posting pics soon.

There is a company called lth steel structures, and they sell insulation with the gym facing, that's up to 6' wide by 100' or so. Total cost for me was around $750, and I have a lot extra for the gabled ends and slider doors.

One of the best things I did to my 24' x 36'. With temps in the 20's to low 30's my King Pick-a-watt heater can keep it in the mid 50's easily.

I'd check with several foam contractors. I did my barn (had done) with closed cell. I think it was around 2 a sq ft??
It is bad ***! I have radiant floor heat in my barn. It is sweet. It is not easy on a budget, though. Advantage is sealing all those little air openings.

Shop around at all the different DIY kits. You can do R8-R9 for about $1 per sq ft. The white vinyl fiberglass stuff is R8 for about .60 a sq ft but the building overall won't be nearly as tight.

I don't really want to fool with a wood stove.

Found this one. I called them. Said the application surface temp needed to be about 60 degrees for proper adhering. So, not sure where you live (on app and doesn't show city), but it might be a good option. Dries in an hour. And can be applied in layers over time. So you could do one layer and then if you left later you wanted more you could add more.

I think I'm going to go with the vinyl faced insulation rolls. The heat is still up in the air. I wanted to go with the propane ceiling heater but I might be able to get a pellet stove for free.

Wood heat is not for everybody, but I'd guess those that have it, like it.

As far as the "free" pellet stove is concerned, ask yourself why are you getting it free ? Something wrong with it ?

Nothing is wrong with the stove. My father in law has it and he doesn't use it anymore so he said it's mine if I want it. I just have to figure out if I want it. Right now it's freezing around here and the little torpedo heater is not getting the job done. Exspecialy with no insulation and the ceiling only partially closed in. I need something the can knock the chill off the building fairly quick and make so I can work in there comfortable in a sweatshirt.

Well getting from your father in law is different than getting it from a friend of a cousin's uncle's brother's neighbor. Atleast you know the history of the family unit.

If you're good with buying the pellets for it, just figure out how you can vent it and go grab it.

Any heat source, in a shop environment, that can't be easily turned off such that there is not an open flame can be problematic.

Primer, paint, stain or solvent clean a project.... the convenience of simply turning off the heat to prevent an explosion is a great feature.
