We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. As the economy in China continues to grow, as well as some other under developed countries, the price of oil (energy) is going to continue to spiral upward. China is presently developing an "interstate" highway system that is patterned after ours in the US. Once that is completed, and the average citizen in China abandons the bicycle as a mode of transportation, they will be competing for more of the worlds oil supply. This can do nothing but drive the price of a barrel of oil to higher prices. The one thing that low cost Chinese goods have done is to improve the economy of China, and to lower the number of manufacturing jobs in the US. China is a growing economy that is sucking the $$$$$$$ out of the US at a greater rate every year. In 20 years from now, the US will be like a 3rd world nation unless we do something to reverse the present trend. What made the US great was our ability to produce goods that were wanted around the world. Today, China and India are doing what we used to do.... Produce goods that the rest of the world wants. As the cost of American produced goods kept rising, the rest of the world was looking for alternatives. We lost our automobile manufacturing jobs to Japan, as well as our electronics manufacturing. I remember when made in Japan meant it was junk. Today, the Japanese made automobiles are becoming the Standard of the World. All this started at the end of the Second World War, when we were rebuilding Japan and Europe, and started to tax American industry to pay for it. I would go further into this subject but I don't want to make this any more political of a post than it already is. Neither political party is responsible any more than the other. When we finally take the hidden profits out of being a politician, it will change. What other country allows "lobbyist" to have the unfettered access to the political process as much as the US?? NONE!!!! Would you spend millions of your own money to get a job that pays maybe 1% of what you have invested? Would people donate thousands to political candidates if it were not for the fact that it would get you access to them for political (tax) favors? Follow the money trail, and see where it goes.
