I have a question about in-floor heating that may be a little off track for this forum but maybe someone out there can give me some general direction. I was wondering if anyone has had experience in adding in-floor heating to an already existing basement slab. This would have to be on the slab with stringers of some sort to support a new sub floor material. Any ideas would be appreciated.

They make basement floor tiles that have a somewhat hollow understructure.
ThermalDry Basement Floor Matting System is shown in this picture....

I think it could be possible to modify these tiles to allow for tube radiation system to be strunk in the open places in these tiles by modifying the tile to allow tubing 1/4" in diameter.
Heat loss through the concrete will have to be addressed...maybe laying faced foam sheathing on the concrete would be a solution.

how much are you willing to build up the floor? What type of material do you want the finished floor to be. You can lay sleepers, set the tubing, pour between the sleepers and cover with the floor of our choice. I built up my bathroom floors. 3/4" subfloor, Uponor's Quik-Trak and their tubing (1/2"), 1/4" cement board, tile. i had to make a tall threshold for the entry, but the floors are warm. Slab edge insulation is important to you.
