I started a thread about Waste Oil Heat, but I am also contemplating a Pellet Stove. Has anyone had experience with a pellet stove and do they work, or do they provide the heat needed for really cold weather. I know pellet stoves don't get as hot as a wood or oil heaters and they rely on radiant heat from the stove. Any suggestions welcome.

I have a pellet stove in my 30x36 shop and it works great. I leave it at 50 and if I want to go out and work I turn it up. I have 10' walls and it only cost me $150 to heat it all last winter in Michigan. If I think I am going to work all weekend then I leave the heat turned up. If you buy a pellet stove buy a good one.

That's good news. What brand of pellet stove would you recommend. Pellets are pretty easy to come by in my area if you get them early. The venting I am told is easy to install and no heavy vent pipes are needed. Sounds like it may be the better option. At 150 bucks all winter, you can't beat that. Of course I don't expect to get that good of a return, but a lot of it probably depends on how well insulated your garage is to. Thanks for tip!

I have spray foam and yes it heats very well. I have a classic bay made by Quadra Fire. I like it.
