I'm looking for affordable heavy duty code reader so that I can determine if I can fix it or send it out to peterbilt to fix it. Just looking for simple one, if they make one. I know matco & OTC has one.

big rig scanners are all on the pricy side but if u look at the right corners of the web u can find software and usb com cables for just about every application

There is one made by OTC for medium and HD diesels. I do not remember the part number but I am sure a google will reveal the part number.....

Just remembered I had save it and it is OTC 3418. Less then $400 if I remember....
you will probably be able to pull the flash codes from the dash. a little research will tell you what buttons to push and the number of blinks will tell you the code.
on the other hand, otc is your cheapest option. you can possibly find an older prolink graphiq on ebay or cl, but a new nexiq iQ is a few thousand. the diesel world has a limited market for code readers right now. that may be changing

This is the OTC 3418. Its a heavy Duly Code reader that. Provides on screen DTC definitions for heavy duty standard codes .

The otc works well for code reading but it will not show transmission codes. If its allison trans you can get the codes throught the shifter with a series a pushingthat buttons that I cannot recall.
I could only find the procedure for the push button Allison. These trucks has the center console drive selector. PNODD31
Any help on finding the codes would be greatly appreciated.
I picked up a used Matco 3418(same as OTC) & I'm trying to figure out how to update the scanner. I connect my ethernet cable, the screen says downloading please wait & my router isn't showing any activate from the scanner. I've had it going for the past 30 minutes.
