Most crimpers are going to be the red, blue, yellow ones where yellow = 10 & 12. I have a die for one of my heat shrink **** connector tools that also has an 8 die, but tools for 8 are hard to find. A lot of folks skip 8 and go straight to 6. 6 is a point where you start to need lug crimpers. Lug crimpers don't typically go smaller than 6 though. For **** splices and rings get a good ratchet crimper. for 6 and larger Greenlee and FTZ make good lug crimpers.
Whatever you do, don't use hammer type, or one size fits all dimple crimpers. Below are two really good articles about wire crimping
