I have completed my setup of 26 mm morse taper drill with heavy duty stand and 6" machine vise. The whole setup is mounted on an angle iron frame with 2" plywood top. The weight breakup is:

Drill: 11 lb
Stand: 58 lb
Vise: 45 lb
---------------
Total: 114 lb
---------------

I am based in India and this is the best setup I could find for heavy duty drilling.

If that is a variable speed drill
Consider putting a hose clamp and a dog on it.
You'll tighten the clamp the little flat dog will press the trigger and your speed will be set without having to hand hold it.
There are more elegant solutions but this is simple and does not require sourcing things.

I've always admired set ups like that but have only used smaller inadequate ones.

Thanks for the suggestion!

It is a single speed drill (550 RPM) but packs a high torque. Yes it does have a trigger lock switch.

When I got this drill last year, I was drilling into 1/2" mild steel and the beast grabbed it out of the C-clamp and turned it viciously into the post. Luckily I was nowhere near it, but the drill bit was bent! That was my wake-up call to invest in a good vise.

Good idea!
I've chucked my corded drill in a vise and used it as a makeshift lathe.
With your tip I won't have to use the stupid trigger lock.

Sorry, I made a mistake in quoting the drill's weight. It is 19 lb (not 11). That makes the total weight of the setup 122 lb.

Congrats. I used a similar setup many years ago and it is better than most DPs for 10mm and up hole diameters. It's slow for smaller holes, but it is what it is.
