Heavy gauge steel shelving rails

Hey all! I recently scored a great set of heavy gauge steel shelves that interlock with rails mounted to the walls. They are much like the Rubbermaid ones at Lowe's but of much better quality. The big drawback is while I scored shelves, the rails were not available so I'm stuck trying to find the right size to accept the hooks on these shelves.

Does anybody have a good starting point on where to start shopping for the rails? Thanks for your help!

Dustin

google "gondola shelving".

Do you think these came out of some out-of-business grocery store? that is basically what they sound like. I would think you'll go broke buying the missing pieces as if you were opening a new grocery store.

Well, I guess we're on the right track anyway. These were taken out of local University's bookstore. You know how the state works, things like shelves must have a expiration date and so out with the old in with the new.....no such thing as free huh?

I'm going to attempt to attach pictures of what we're dealing with here. Thanks again!

If you're talking about shelf standards I have a ton of them, where are you located?

Is this what you are looking for?

@cgrutt, I'm in Salisbury, MD. What's the spacing on those things? The hooks on these shelves have 2" between them at the resting point of each piece, single set of slots on each side.

@bob15, Yeah, something like that - I didn't even know the things were called "standards"! That alone ought to send me further in the right direction.

Pictures should be attached at these links:

Yeah, I think those fit in a normal shelf standard. The ones that I have are various lengths between about 2' and 7'. They are approx. 1" wide by 3/4" tall with 1" x 1/8" slots spaced every 2" on center. I'm in NY how many were you looking for? They are pretty heavy for example a 6-1/2' one weights just over 5 lbs. They came out of a retail store and are steel painted white.

That'd be pretty sweet if they did fit. I have 22 shelves but I haven't nailed down layout entirely. Off the cuff, I'm thinking ten 7-footers. That would allow for four rows of 5 long and I'd have to find a home for the other two elsewhere.
