Hah you can tell how cheap these things are. They literally took this wrench and twisted it. If you look at the craftsmans, the middle section is noticably thicker... like it was intentionally made like that. These look like some guy accidentally dropped a normal combo wrench and discovered that these things get a nifty little bend when dropped.

Have you guys seen the SK sets on the Horror Fright website?

SK Spline Socket Set

They actually have several different pieces from SK, much to my surprise.

SK stuff at HF

How about the Irwin Hansen tap & die sets?

USA made Irwin Hansen

I tell you, something has got to be up with SK. This stuff HAS to be B stock or something. Why would they sell product to HF?? It doesn't make sense...

I believe it's because SK realizes the traffic the website and retail stores generate. The prices aren't that much better than anywhere else, so I doubt it's "2nds" or "B" stock stuff.

But, that's just me ... stranger things have proven me wrong in the past. :D

I haven't had any luck with SK. The one set of SK wrenches that I still have look like garbage. MULTIPLE amounts of flaws in the chrome, they are wavy as the atlantic ocean and I have striped several of the ratches on low torque applications. On the good side they are always warranteed, and they are incredibly long ... when I say long I mean they are the longest double box ratchet wrench I have ever seen.

HF does carry some name brand stuff in their stores. They have the large vice-grip clamps at a decent price for local availability. The thing is (at least for the vice-grips) they keep them locked up in a separate container. Probably so the HF quality clamps don't infect them. As far as the twist wrenches are concerned they are a novelty that may serve a purpose for some consumers in certain situations. Not for me but maybe someone. If they fail to sell I may consider some when they are on clearance if the price is right.

If we use this logic, then
Milwaukee
Makita
Dewalt
Skill
Hobart
Irwin
Channelock
Estwing
Ingersoll-Rand
and whomever else they sell for that I didnt see quickly looking at there website, must all have something wrong with them. My guess is they simply want to make money and if HF will sell there tools, that is fine with them. I am sure HF is not an authorized dealer for any of the brands, but that doesn't mean they cant sell them.

Back in the days before the Internet, HF's name was Harbor Freight Salvage Co.
I imagine they still buy salvage freight and closeouts on a regular basis.

I'm going to buy a set of those. If I decide I don't like the twist, I'll put them in the oven, warm them up, and beat the twist out of them. Maybe 400 degrees for 30 min. :shocking:

It seems strange, doesn't it?
I can remember actually mailing a check in an envelope to Harbor Freight back in 1986...and then waiting like a month for the **** to show up.

How times change.

I remember their catalog was about six pages on newsprint.

You guy's are missing the point of these fine tools ... they are ment to be used as sinkers for cat fishing ... you know curosity killed the cat ... well you tie these on your line and drag them along the bottom ... the sound they make and the flash from the highly polished chrome attracts the catfish so it comes around to try and figure out what they might be good for ... then he see's the bait ... bites the hook ... you got dinner and curosity killed the cat

What size wrench should I use if I want to catch a 25lb. catfish? Are there any advantages to SAE over Metric?:pimpflash

Well a 25lb. catfish requires a SAE wrench ... a 1&1/4" should do nicely ... that = 1.25 so I figure it's good for 1 - 25lb. catfish:thumbup:
