I am going to build a new pole garage, with an 8' mud room between house and garage. My question is what is the best and easiest way to get garage roof same height as house, because mud room won't be started until garage is put up.:dunno:

Loaded question! How many story house, roof pitch, yard grade? You will be money ahead to spend a few bucks to have a pro take a look and make sure you're doing it right!

Don't ask.
Is this a trick question? Set the top point on the trusses of the pole barn to the same height as the house. Are you concerned with the bottom of the trusses (soffit/eave level) as well?
Do you expect the mud room to make it taller or shorter?

The simple answer is keep the plate height the same. The big variable will be the ridge height of the new building. If you want the ridge of the new building to plane with the house you will have to adjust the pitch on the new building. It really isn't complicated. You just need to sketch it out and start up the calculator. Is the new building already designed? If so it's a little late for this question.

Laser level or transit.

To completely match the house, you need to match the roof pitch and profile of the fascia soffit, overhang and gutter. This is the outside profile. What happens inside can be different. You need to develop a detail that does this.

Then the laser level. or better, the transit, will allow you to get the elevations right.

Don't joke. They built a hotel from the top down near me. Built the roof. Jacked it. Built the top floor under the roof. Jacked it. Kept on going for 3 floors high.

I doubt if the local code will allow a pole building to an attached building.
Attached almost always requires a residential style foundation.
You may be able to build a enclosed "breeze way" later on.
But that will require a break in the roof line.

Disagree. Company that I used to sell for built post frame attached to traditional construction frequently.

I can an argument being made that a pole building will note move like a building on a slab wil with frost.
But that would take a pretty enlightened code writer.
If you are in a no code area then "no harm, no foul."
