I picked up an old Hein Werner 4 ton model GG, the ram is leaking pretty bad. Any advice on rebuild or a rebuild kit?

So I ordered a rebuild kit however the ram seal nut is buggered up. Looks like someone took a chisel to it instead of a spanner wrench. Does anyone sell parts for these other than the repair kits? How tight does the ram seal nut need to be?

Those nuts are tightened to about 400-500 lbs/ft I believe. They use no gasket between the parts. Hard parts are not available generally, though I have run across a few items on e-bay and a local hydraulic shop. Parts the these are not being made, it is old stock. Good Luck.

Any chance of building a copy of or refaceing the tank nut at a machine shop? Not cheap I bet,but not a lost cause either for good equipment. Some of these parts are partly based on off the shelf components,NPT thread, pipe.Bad idea? I also once wanted some glass Japanese, turquoise colored fish net floats.I have some of the bottles they used to get the glass from, but the glass worker said I would be better off just buying the original off Ebay, and I get to keep my Japanese wine bottles.
