Hein-Werner Jack Instructions

Are there any on-line sources for simple owner's manual type info for vintage Hein-Werner jacks? I have a model K and need to add some hydraulic oil. Anyone have a file that can be e-mailed? I'm guessing this jack was built in the 50s, so a basic oil change may be in order.

I thought about replacing this fine, old specimen with a new jack from Harbor Frieght but after comparing up close...no way! I'll rebuild this ol' boy long before I'd buy that junk they're passing for jacks in there these days.

Ill see what i can find as far as a break down for your K model. Im not currently at home so it will be a couple days. I think you should try and figure out why your jack is low on oil? Oil doesnt evaporate and those jacks are sealed units so i would check for leaks etc. On another note, Jacks dont necessarily need "Oil Changes" You will find on vented jacks (ie: Walker/Lincoln) that in dusty enviroments etc they will create a sludge in the resevoir that can sometimes hamper usage.

Thanks, HiBall. The cylinder is coated in a nice blanket of dirt and dust, presumably sticking to the oil that has leaked out of my Model K over a long period of time. I loaned my jack to a friend who restored a '68 Camaro and he left it under load for months at a time (no stands, apparently). Not sure if that was the cause for my leak, but it can't be good. The jack wil only produce upward motion during the final 2" or so of handle travel.

Yes, That is too long for constant Pressure. The last 2" definitely sounds like lack of oil and also a worn pump cup.

Kinda off topic but the Am. Pickers show flashed a vintage Hein-Warner porcelein sign for a couple of seconds. I think it was from some place in WI.

That would be awesome, the chubby guy normally buys alot of the signs if there worth turning.
