I just found this site and it looks promising to me.
I have this 8 ton hyd. jack and had it for about 10 years or so. I used it about 2 or three times over the first few years but then I noticed the oil would just leak out all over the floor. So I would clean up the floor and work the jack and it still worked so I just left it, but then it leaked out all over again.:headscrat

I never took it apart. It looks like trying to get a turtle apart so I just set it aside and was going to throw it away, but then I though someone here could give me some tips on what to do with it.

I do not know where the leak is from. There are only so many places it can come from so I was going to try to find a seal kit someplace and try that for starters and hope it works. Any ideas?

Im Assuming your talking about a Bottle Jack, But the Whole leaking while Just Sitting leads me to believe its a Reservoir issue (Unless your referencing sitting while under Load). A Model # or a picture will Help tremendously.

I have two that leak too. Mine have a rubber plug in the side to add oil. That is where mine are leaking, the plugs seem to rot and i haven't found a good replacement so i store in a upright standing position and check the level when i use them.
