I picked up this Hein-Werner Model GH 4 ton floor jack for $65 this weekend. Correction - 3 grown men picked this up and loaded it into my Suburban while I watched (I am recovering from shoulder surgery). My buddy John and I rolled it out of the rig using a ramp.

This jack is in excellent condition but does need serviced as it leaks down rather quickly (it hisses as it leaks down).

So I set out to find a rebuild kit. One site I found called "Lazzar's" has all kinds of Hein-Werner rebuild kits, including one for my model.

However, before purchasing anything, I downloaded the PDF with a parts list and assembly diagram, but it's for a different model than mine.

https://www.hcrcnow.com/shop/seal-kits/hein-werner/1313

I Checked both Models GH and GH-1, and the site shows the same item number for the kit as well as the same parts diagram.

I'm not interested in dropping $70 + shipping for the wrong rebuild kit so I'm asking for help.

Question 1) Is this the correct rebuild kit? Is this a good price for a rebuild kit? If not, can someone point me to a site with the correct rebuild kit or better price?

Question 2) What era or year was my jack made? Is there a date code somewhere on it?

Question 3) Well, not a question but rather a statement. Please don't tell me to search GJ for the information I'm looking for. There are hundreds of threads that reference Jacks, Hein-Werner, or the resident expert, Hiball. Searching for the right information could take days.

Thank you!

Brian

The one thing you did not mention was calling the supplier of the rebuild kit for advice.
Why would you not want to consult Hiball? If we have a knowledgeable member why start looking for another one?

I hope my original comment didn't sound like I didn't want Hiball's advice - the opposite is true!

My comment was that I searched GJ for his posts, posts about jacks, and posts about Hein-Werner and got frustrated with the huge number of posts to search through. I wasn't in the mood to hear "look it up yourself".

My wife must be right about my poor communication skills, lol!

there is a single thread with about everything you need to know about jacks by hi-ball, unfortunately the pics are gone due to fotobucket...just search his username and jack thread and you'll find it.

Yeah, call the supplier in hiball's signature line. [Need a Seal Kit? Contact Hydraulic Parts Supply at 620-594-2247] I called on a Wagner jack and they had the kits all ready to go. They've also got a printed catalog. The price was about 1/4 of what Lazzar's wanted. I'm sure that they'd have what you want.
