Hein-Werner Model M info

I'm looking for opinions/info on a Hein-Werner Model M (I believe). I have googled looking for model info or manuals to no avail. What is the lifting height of this model and are repair kits readily availible? Is this jack worth $100 or so if it needs repair? I need something with relatively high lift capability to work on the Jeep. I would love a Milwaukee 40 but it's out of my reach at the moment.

Thanks,

John

Quality Jack, Repair Kits are Available, Hard Parts are only available in NOS form or USED. Its Worth $100 regardless if its Working or not but i would use any Leaking, Bad casters as Negotiation account they can get Pricey.

I recently rebuilt a Model M and was able to get a rebulit kit from Hiball. It is a 2 ton unit and mine lifts to about 24.5". I have a few Hard Parts available as well.

Thanks for the replies and info guys.

How about some pics of your prospective purchase?

I don't have any at the moment as I found it in a text ad but I'm going to go check it out (today if possible) and if I pick it up I'll post some up.

Well, I gambled with $80 and picked it up:

I didn't have time for a thorough test drive but it did raise and lower the Jeep. I'll have time this weekend to give it a better look.

WOW! That's a stout looking unit. Looks real nice, I'd say you did well for $80 bucks.

A very nice jack, about how heavy are these and are they easy to move around or a pita? Thanks

Update: Well' I bought 2 of these model "M" Hein Werners off craigslist for $50 ea, both work perfectly. If your wondering, these model "M" jacks weigh 149 lbs according to specs I found (see att). If lifting one they are quite bulky/heavy.

But' once these are on a smooth surface like a concrete floor these are an absolute dream to glide around and use.
Much easier to move around than my short body heavy duty 2 ton Lincoln design Hein Werner 2 ton thats made today.

Due to the "M" series rear caster wheels being more centered it makes it much more balanced feeling I guess, it seems to glide around when rolling. Its just hands down easier to move around. Its no wider than shorter jacks so its real issues for some may be garage space parking for its frame length & weight while lifting it off the ground.
Its lifting height/gliding movement will easily make me grab it first now, no doubt about it.
In the one picture here you can see the lift height difference next to True Blue.

How easy is it to remove the handle on these M series. I found one I may get but not sure it will fit in my 4Runner without taking it apart?
Anyone ever finds a link for M models owner manual please post it. I sure cant find one after quite a bit of searching? Im sure it shows how the handle removes. Thanks

Hi'
Well I'm sorry I can't help out on a lift arm or any parts for you my friend.
Both mine worked great as I had stated & I gave one to my brother & kept the other.
Sadly my big bro was killed shortly afterwards on his Harley on Father's day .. His son "should" receive it, but everythings destination in the estate is subject at this point as my bro had remarried after a divorce? I do hope my nephew does end up with it because he will certainly use it a lot and appreciate it very much just like his dad did.

My brother used it a few times before passing on and he told me he absolutely loved it and so did all of his friends. Just like my own friends do, they want it in their own garage after the first time using it..lol
These are great jacks so I really hope you get yours going there dep5.

Thank you bubinga, he was really a great guy too. Independent OTR Truck Driver about 2 decades , caused no accidents, received safe driving awards regularly. Served our country in the Army (Nat Guards) when young, elected Sheriff one term then went on to be a KS state trooper for 10 yrs although you never knew it talking to him in/out of uniform.
He had the average Joe (respectable) truck driver manners, he was never the uppity straight laced stiffened trooper type we all know most state cops seem to become for whatever reasons I never understood?
Was an electrician many yrs afterwards and a cancer survivor so he was a busy dude in life and absolutely loved this family most of all. He's deeply missed by so many people today and he always will be. Just say'n...So' I thank you!

Back to these floor jacks, they really are fantastic and operate very smoothly, feel much lighter to move around on driveways or smooth garage floors as I stated because it's mindblowing how light the "M" series feel. Anyone that see's one on craigslist or ebay that is near them and priced right should surely grab it very quick. Don't forget our GJ member Dep5 needs some parts to get one going so let him know if you see anything please.

I was lucky & found mine on Craigs very cheap from a recently deceased man's wife who said he restored old small/medium farm tractors on the side and used these (2) HW in his garage for that.
They are not as nice as a Walker, Milwaukee or a Gray by any means but absolutely worth using in a small shop or home garage daily and will easily hold their own on most jobs.
That said' I really do like using mine. It appears to be easy to rebuild when the time comes, however I've not been inside one yet nor seen any threads on rebuilding one yet? Never needed too with mine, so far thats a blessing there but I'm watching and will post any links here If I spot something.
I painted them since posting pics and the best match I found is Chevy OEM engine paint "Hugger Orange" color. It matched perfect and being engine paint it resists most automotive fluids so win win...

Here are some Obsolete Floor jack parts fwiw, get them while you still can.
NO RETURNS SO MAKE SURE IT'S WHAT YOU NEED!!!
SEE THAT? NO RETURNS GUYS!!!!

Grant, very sorry Im really late here, glad you got an M & hope its still works great today. One of the best 2 & 4 ton jacks I ever used.
That cover goes missing on a lot of M's I bet. Idk why people remove the shields because thats really an Important part actually so Id make one asap if mine was missing.
The sheild keeps extra fine dirt & sand grit that falls off a car & lands directly on this jacks ram. The grit then goes inside this jacks seals when the ram moves in/out & destroys your seals over time.
My covers were off both mine too when I picked them up but luckily the lady (owners wife??) knew they were both hanging in their other barn when I asked about them, the owner had passed.
Maybe type "Hein Werner Jack" in Ebay's search box, then click "Used" under condition to filter out brand new jacks/parts. Then hit "Save Search" then Ebay will email new listing to you that may appear. May take a long time to find one, it may be tomorrow? Craigs list offers saved search too btw.
Try different searches like "Hein Werner M Series" or similar, just never know how ones listed really but using fewer words is better in searches they say?

Sorry late here, hope it helps.
I stopped following threads long ago, I just have way too many daily emails hitting me.
