Hi all! My name is Elijah. Some time lurker here and of 4into1 and InfamousNissan forums :)

I have inherited an old Hein Werner O boy 1 1/4 ton jack which is in rough shape. I have seen Highball, Elroy's, and others posts on rebuilding these jacks and I think I'm willing to dig in! The jack is not visibly pooling oil or anything like that, and I just tried to bleed it last week. When it is being raised it creaks and groans. When I go to lower it, it requires load and kinda 'skips' down until i release the knob more. You can see both of this in the videos. I feel like it's a candidate for a rebuild since it's missing a few c-clips on the 'arms' and is pretty rusty. Can't seem to find anything explaining these specific problems so thought I'd post here! If i do decide to rebuild it I can post here. We are looking for a house so as soon as I get a better garage this is the first thing I'll be doing!
Thanks,
Elijah

I don't see videos, just pics, but maybe because I'm on mobile. Noises on my past floor jacks have usually been from springs, more common on the cheaper ones. Binding sounds like it just needs some lube. Personally I wouldn't rebuild it if it isn't leaking, I'd assume it's a leather U cup and those seem like they can last forever. Do replace the c clips either way

Thank you so much for the reply! Trying YouTube since I cannot get the uploader to work. I will try to clean it first then and give it a good coat of oil!
