Do you even need to or can you add the slip resistance materiel (HDGRIP - SOFT SKID MEDIA) to the coating (HellFire) if you are not using the clear coat?

If you clear coat do you have to a braid away all the clear coat to recaot (HellFire) again years later?

What do you need to do if you recoat (HellFire) after a few years later over just the coating (HellFire) with out a clear coat on it? Lightly sand then coat or just re coat or something more complicated?

The Soft-Skid is always a great idea and can be used with this product. It can be mixed into the last coat and applied, no clear needed.

If you clear right away you would do it within three or four hours of the last coat of hellfire. If you want to do it at a later date you would scuff the gloss off the floor with a black stripper pad, wipe clean and then Coat. Although I would probably recommend another coat of hellfire before adding the clear because after the scuffing process it might look a little uneven.

Yes if you want to add another coat of hellfire at another date same deal, scuff wipe and coat.

I like to use denatured alcohol when wiping down a floor.

When using this product the floor has to be porous. In some cases that can be achieved with an acid etch in others a sanding might be all you need. Some floors already have porosity going for them and may only need a good cleaning.

If it readily absorbs water then you are good to go.

I have a few question:

How does the durability compare to epoxy?

How many coats are recommended?

What is the benefit of a clear top coat since it is already resistant to chemicals?

Thanks

Great questions Zio!

MUCH more durable than epoxy, check the data on our fact/use sheet. Epoxy is more eye pleasing and hides imperfections better, however.

Because this is a thin product , by design, we recommend 3 coats for a garage.

Because of the metallic additive you are actually lessening the overall durability of the coating by adding the clear, good catch!! However, some might forgo a little durability for a snappy look.

Sounds good so far.

The specs on the website do make it sound very similar to RB.(not a bad thing)

Used to cover steel, ship paint, MIL spec, etc.

Not much info on the site? Coverage, quantity?

Any long term test info?

I like it.

Coverage is subjective. A very porous floor might only get 250 on coat 1. However by coat 3 the same floor will jump to 400.

Luckily the weather here in Florida makes coating testing easy. Passed long term UV and exterior weathering with flying colors. It performs as well as most urethanes we have but does really well in the solvent tests.

Never going to win 1st prize in the decorative category when compared to our Nohr-S Polyurea or Epoxy Kits but I don’t think the user in this category cares. Function over Form.

Not trying to be rude, but you may want to look into that, since this product is in direct competition with Rust Bullet. I'm planning on using Rust Bullet and will be ordering in the next few months when my house is finished being built. What advantages do your product offer over RB? If you can't answer that, why would I use your product?

Again, not trying to be rude, but I want the best product, yet you have no information available...poor business tactics. Even says in the description: "exhibits outstanding characteristics exceeding competitive products." What competitive products are you referring to?

Brother I hear where you are coming from. However, we DO NOT test or apply other companies products. There is plenty of info on the web-site and now we have pictures and feedback from a few users.

I think one can draw some conclusions from the information presented (coverage rates, chem resistance results, appearance, dry-time, pricing, etc..).

Thanks for the feedback.

So, I oops and back over a new can of Gumout non-green carb cleaner.
It pukes all over the floor.
Not noticing, I take the car for a test spin.
Returning to the garage, with red hot tires, I roll right over the carb cleaner saturated floor.

How much does it cost me to touch up the floor?

If the dented can scratches the coating and you have to repair because of this you could repair easily using a little sandpaper and some more material.

As long as you applied to a porous floor the tire itself is not a factor.

A quart is $49.00, free shipping.

When you say resistant, does that mean that also include that it won't absorb chemiclas? Like if I spill motor oil, will it absorb it? Will it leave a stain?

Can I fill in the control joints and coat with hellfire or will the hellfire not stick to a smooth filler product?

I've installed the hellfire coating in my garage, and I can say that it pretty good.

At the moment I've been working in my garage teaching my son how to wrench. Hellfire cleans up and real good. I've spilled oil, coolant and all sorts of hazmat and I've been able to clean them off with a simple degreaser and pressure wash.

Only downfall that I experienced was around the opening of the garage door, where its subjected to UV sunlight. I've got some yellowing around it.

But its handled floor jacks, stands and hazmat. So no too bad for the price I paid.

I wish I hadn't thrown so much flakes on it, so that I could redo the yellowing or fade around the area.1e50d309ec2374c1f8bc291e0b92db85.jpg10970d0ccbeb368555873e57a175bb02.jpg7e4114804aed971342857876a3d85038.jpgecffb47ec2fb07e2586930683f2ae16e.jpg25160bc8c0ed00e8a6b97fdb1a7b4fd6.jpg25ae007118c1110154042c6a73b50338.jpg

Scotty,
We are looking into coating 70x42 detached garage floor (new construction). 1/3 of the floor space will be used for an indoor batting cage, so I was not looking at anything fancy initially. We liked some of the metallic colors that we have seen with your products, and since we live in NV we are concerned with UV exposure. What products would you recommend? Polyurea Nohr-S coating over DeltaDye? Would acid etching or diamond grinding be preferred?

Yes, Delta-Dye under Nohr-S Polyurea is great. A good etch is ok, but always 2nd place to a grind.

3 coats are the recommendation? This doesn’t give a big cost advantage over the competitors then.

After I layed down the hellfire coating I walked around on spiked shoes and tossed around the flakes. Pro tip, use a bucket and not a a plastic bag. My plastic bag had a hole and I didn't realize I was leaked flakes on some spots.

No top coat. It's been very durable so far.

Seriusly considering this. At first was thinking of going epoxy and "garage-of-the-month" look. But my needs and budget have changed and just want the floor to look ok. Maybe I missed the info but what about:
- How slippery is it, say, when I have to get a tool in the middle of the night wearing only socks.
- The more coats, the shinier/glossier the look?
Thanks.

Always a good idea to add non-skid to last coat. Check out our HDGrip Soft-Skid.

It has a gloss finish, 3 coats total should be great.

Update on my floor after a couple months. The Hellfire is holding up great after electric, insulation, & drywall installation. The parts of the floor exposed to the Sun have changed color a bit, from gray to a bit greenish. This doesn't seem to have changed the durability at all. See pictures, this is the areas outside the garage, exposed all the time.

To answer a posted question, the floor does not seem slippery at all, even when wet. More slippery than bare, rough concrete sure, but not bad at all.

Coincidentally, we are currently working on the discoloration as customers want to use this level of protection in more “decorative” applications.

Of course, we will work with any former client that wants to topcoat with the newer formula.

Lastly, the solution to this is coming from a famous German automobile manufacturer. Rhymes with Mercedes-Tenz.

Will update when ready.
