hello all. New member with questions

Hope you all don't mind me asking.

I did some searches and with the wealth of information here, I've decided to go with tiles. I have a one car garage that it 20ft 10in x 13ft 6.5in that is about 20-30 years old. The floor slab is way too far gone with cracks from settling to do epoxy. Hence my leaning to tiles.

My question is.... do I need to remove the years of engine/****** fluid stains with a power washer before the install?

Welcome to the Garage. Not knowing too much about flooring and tiles, I would assume that a clean surface is always best in any application. I would pressure wash it & give it ample time to completely dry before proceeding any further.

I can say... put a tile over a cracked floor... you will soon have a cracked tile.

Doesn't sound like you are in for an easy fix here.

If you are referring to garage tiles, unless there is an odor from the floor that bothers you, there isn't any need to do much prep.

Ahh those kind of tiles... Yea... less issues. Thought you meant ceramic tiles at first.

Garage tiles can be laid over damaged concrete in most sitautions without an issue. Many of our customers will do a nice cleaning first just for a little peace of mind as to what is underneath.
