Just registered yesterday, though I have been reading the threads for a while to get ideas. I like to work on and enjoy cars and boats, and have too many of both. Both my father and grandfather were mechanics and machinists at one time in their lives, and I enjoy working with my hands, having the right tools and place to work. I have two sons and a daughter and I try to pass the skills along to them. I am in the planning stages of a long overdue rehab to my metal shed, which I will detail in a separate thread.

Best,

CD

Here's a newby question: If I'm going to do a thread on my planning and construction with pictures as I go, is it better to put that in the General Garage or the Show Your Garage subforums? I'm interested in getting useful tips and suggestions especially about the planning before construction.

Thanks!

Coyote: i'd suggest posting up plenty of pictures and ask plenty of questions often or keep posting more pictures to keep your thread up on top of Garage Gallery so it doesn't get lost. also if you want to gain more member's eyes to get more answers you might start posting on other member's threads so you can get to know us.

we are a very knowledgable group and friendly, but we are not customer service so it's a lot of give and take if you know what i mean. in your case to start out with you give us plenty of pictures and we get to admire them and maybe help you make things even better.

cheers and welcome

Drivesitfar- Thanks for the very direct advice. I will try to follow it. I am inspired by what I have seen here, and want to get cracking on a long neglected garage rehab. I'll try to contribute something useful as well.

Coyote: sorry if i sounded a bit Curt, but you'll need a little good advice to survive most internet forums. all you'd really need to do to help to start with until you have some skills to share is maybe a WELL DONE or thanks on threads you actually gained some knowledge from so some of us that post a lot know there there are REAL PEOPLE out there that care and that we are not just typing to space.

HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS

cheers and if you have any questions about the forum you can ask a MOD or PM me if you need help and i'll help if i can.
