Just wanted to stop by and say hello. I will purchasing my first grinder and have been studying posts by the members here.
I currently have the option of two older machines. One is 2hp 10 inch and the other is 1/2 hp 6”. I’m just a hobbyist…tool sharpening, grinding and cleaning with wire wheels. The asking price for either is $100.

Goodshow: Welcome to the group. One thing to consider between the 10" and the 6", is that wheels for a 10" are going to be significantly more expensive than ones for a 6" grinder. If you are going to use several different types of wheels, I would probably go with the 6" first. For an idea on the cost differential, a 10" wire wheel for a 1" arbor will run 75$ or more, while a 6" will typically run on a 5/8" or 1/2" arbor and costs less than 15$. Stones will vary similarly, depending on composition and exact sizing.

Either way, it's not a bad price for them.
