Hello ya'll...

Been tinkering, restoring and just generally fartin'around out in the garage since the Fifties....in fact a Third Generation genuine Garage Rat...proud to say.

Just found this site a few minutes ago and quickly joined....and now just as quickly leaving....heres why.

I wanted to post a Want Ad but was told, "You can't want something until you have posted 100 times."

That's OK for me after 65-years in a garage and inheriting my Dad's stuff...and my Grand Dads stuff too....but what about the young kids just starting out?

Does it really make sense to deny them the chance to acquire a tool or a sign or whatever they think they need until they have satisfied some old farts :lol_hitti silly notion of 100 posts? Really!:lol_hitti:

I want to encourage as many youngsters into the garage car tinkering restoring hot-rodding hobby as possible....not discourage them with silly rules.

Ya'll have fun making rules...I'll have fun tinkering' on my Duece Coupe with my two Grandsons.:D:D:D

Dude, 100 posts is nothing. If you had stuck around a bit and poked around and contributed a tad, 100 posts would be over before you know it. A little patience is a good thing.

Yes, when I first started to post, a 100 did seem far off, bit now....not so much. Please reconsider .....

We have a relatively small number of rules here, most of which were adopted to solve specific problems.

The reason for the 100 post rule is because we want only contributing members to have the ability to post to the wanted and classifieds forums.

Forums thrive on the contributions of their members and fail when they turn into nothing more than another free classifieds site. Contribute to our forum, learn a little and you'll quickly have sufficient posts to access the wanted section.

Wanted ads are the domain of lazy losers anyway. If someone can't be bothered hunting out the things for sale yourself , then I have no interest in selling to them. They always want a Cadillac product at Kia prices.

You should have stayed. A lot of knowledge and fun here. On the other hand, another one post wonder.

I'm upset you guys are not bringing me a fresh cold beer when I'm empty! How many posts before that happens?

I joined to sell stuff, not to be part of the community and you won't let me because I only have 1 post. Your loss because I got good stuff you all want.
I might as well go back to CL.

I miss him already. Remember the time he posted about how much garage time he has but he was gonna quit the forum because you need 100 posts to post in the Wanted section? Good times...

A principled stand. Leaving because of the kids, y'know. It's all -- sniff, sniff -- about the kids, bless their hearts.

I'm going to take this opportunity to shamelessly pad my post count!

While it is important to impart garage knowledge upon the younger generations, there are several other important things to teach.

1. Patience
2. Critical thinking
3. Not being whiny

Welcome!

or, err, goodbye? :dunno:
