Well when I first stumbled across this forum I thought to myself these mericans have taken Tim the tool man just a tad too far but by crickey there is some fantastic info herein. My dad had a shed that Bert Munro would have been proud of and i have tried to follow in his footsteps. I restore 1920s chevs and collect aesthetically pleasing tools that are both exceedingly beautiful but entirely functional. My workshop (garage) is very much a brass and wood affair with chrome and plastic components well hidden. My most recent purchase is a 10 inch atlas lathe which I believe was made in the U S of A some time before the war. As it is my first lathe am interested to know what a good bench height to set lathe upon is. Anyway - am loving this forum and sense an affinity between sheddies in the US and NZ and no doubt my comrades across the tasman sea.
