Hello everyone. Though I've tinkered about in garages and under cars for most of my life, I've grown to love restoring old lanterns, pressure stoves and tools, and am in the process of outfitting a proper man-cave in my garage. This is not my full-time job, so I can be described as a DIYer, nor do I actually need anything I either fix or produce. The net result is that I'm not in a hurry to do anything, and quite enjoy the process of learning about it and trying it out.
I'm currently outfitting my workshop, and am in the process of choosing a bench grinder for polishing and wirewheeling, and an angle grinder for cleaning and light grinding. Whether I choose low priced or high-quality grinders is still a bit of a decision.
My current project list is straighforward:
Short term: A rusty blacksmith hammer restoration; a Record no.1 vice restore; a Woden 190/7a refurbish; and a Wolf Cub drill refurbish.
Long term: A huge vintage mangle that will require me to learn all the skills aquired from the short-term projects.
I look forward to getting involved in the forum, both reading and participating. Oh, and if anyone lives near Ampthill, I'd be happy to buy you a beer.
