Hi there, I'm in Bakersfield CA and I spend way too much time on the Jalopy Journal and heck, if you got a Jalopy then you probably have or are in need of building a garage. I have use of a garage and am in need of more garage, ha I know it's the endless struggle when you are into cars, isn't it!?! I'm currently in the process of planning my dream shop based on a steel building. Looking on here and seeing others plan and build their dream shops is inspiring!
Since I was in high school I have wanted to have a shop of my own to work on my cars in, it has always been a dream of mine! Besides being able to use my friend's shops, I've always built cars in the driveway or in the garage when it wasn't jam-packed full of stuff!
My plan shop-wise is to build the steel building and have a living quarters above the garage portion (where cars that are done will be kept) and next door to that will be the workshop area. I plan to do the living quarters in a mid-century modern style and the workshop in a more industrial style. I have drawn the floorplan and design... nothing super fancy, but I think its a good design. I have been working on it for the last few years and I am getting ready to break ground in the next few months if all goes right. There's a lot to doing something like this, i really had no idea.
