Hey all, my name is Will, found this site about 7 years ago and got some help with lighting in our old 24x28 shop.

Since then my wife and I have both retired from the phone company, left the Vancouver area and moved to 150 Mile House in the cariboo. Pretty rural hear, everyone has acreages, nearest town is Williams lake about 10 miles north. Don't miss the big city at all, I refer to Vancouver as the toilet bowl! :D

The house we moved into has a 40x25 shop that is bare studs inside and I'm getting ready to start finishing it off inside.

This is a great place to learn from and when I can't find what I need there's lotsa helpful people willing to help me out with my stupid questions... ;)

Merry Christmas!
Will :canadian:

Hey there from Calgary!

I hear you on Vancouver. Lived there with my ex wife for six months (I attribute the busyiness of that toilet bowl to the failure of my marriage). Moved back to Calgary the day after she asked for a divorce. Best thing ever!

I am familiar with your area, got family up at Boochie Lake outside of Quesnel!

40x25 will be a good start, let us barrage you with advice!

I live in Burnaby and I feel trapped by the traffic. I have to go to POCO to buy some casters tomorrow. I have to be on the road before noon or I may get caught in the PM rush and not get home for supper. I have been into downtown Vancouver twice since EXPO 86. Williams Lake is beautiful country. I bought a rare IHC crewcab west of WL.
Seasons Greetings.

xmasGreetings. I also retired from the phone company. My Uncle used to live in WL, were he managed the local JD shop. Only got up there once between Christmas and New Years.
1000 sq ft will give you some excellent space to fill with projects. Keep us up to date with what you are up to.
Merry Christmas

Welcome from, well... Chilliwack.

There certainly is a ton of experience and good advice and examples here. I couldn’t guess how many GJ ideas I incorporated into my build but surely saved me a ton of money and wasted effort.

Good to see a few other Canadians on here.
Electrician starts in the new year, will be nice to get going on the shop. Been here a year, spent that doing work to the house, will be nice to have a heated lit place for my tinkering! :D

Oh man, can I relate! We came out of a rental in Richmond that was hopelessly run-down with a single car garage and moved to Kelowna... now I've got a three car garage, twice the house, and half the stress I had in Vancouver!

Kelowna is a very busy place, some parts are almost as bad as the toilet bowl! ;)
Glad you like it there, we really like it in the cariboo, more bang for your buck here, wish we didn't wait till retirement to move here.
