Hello everyone, I read about this forum on another forum (ChevyTalk) & had a look - it looked good, so I joined.

My shed is a bit of a mess - 3 cars (buried under all sorts of debris).
Most of my "spare" time is spent doing DIY around the house - my wife gives me a list & I try to get things crossed off the top of the list before items get added at the bottom. :(
One day (when the list gets shorter), I'll get to setting the shed up better & re-commence work on the cars (if I don't die first).

Is it bad taste to say, "let's throw another shrimp on the barbie!"

Welcome,

Haha, that old tourism ad has always amused most Aussies ... the irony of it being that what you call "shrimp", we call "prawns".

January 26 is Australia day (our "national day") & apparently now were supposed to throw a sheep on the barbie! We've been getting these lamb ads (we get a new one each year) for 10 years or more now...

Cheers mate :)

I've been following your "small garage.." thread Vieux, so I know that mine is much more untidy.

Just to prove it, here are a couple of pics...

This is called "creative mess"!:):):)

Thanks Vieux, that's a very tactful way of putting it.

that's tidy!, you can still see the floor!

Only a strip down the middle, Gazza (to about 2/3 of the way towards the back, then you have to turn right, then left, then.....) :willy_nil

Mark,
Brave move showing off your "creative mess" as it shows real character, i take my hat off to you.

Cheers

You're too kind 1/2 cup, I know it is a mess & it's taken me 6 months of reading various threads on GJ to pluck up the courage to reveal any of it to the unsuspecting world. :(

I know that I have to do something about it - I was looking forward to mid-August because I'll have a few days off work then, but my lovely wife reminded me that the guttering on the house needs replacing (which it does) - Oh well, maybe Xmas

Hey Mark,

Looks a lot like my previous garage! That's what I'm trying to avoid by posting the new one on here... Looks like there's some nice toys in there though, and you have some space to work with, so get to it. A few minutes here and there each week and you'll be surprised how much progress you make.

Cheers,

Andrew.

Mine doesn't grab the tape.... She will usually say " hey hun I was thinking...... " LOL

You have to make I plan of what you want to do and slowly work from front to the back and make a pile of want and toss .Like said before just getting out there and going thru stuff little by little helps.

Firstly, my apologies for not responding to posts on this thread - I really should check it more often, but (in my defense) there is so much more good stuff to look at on this forum.

Hey Andrew,
In a previous life, I was lucky enough to have a large suburban block (nearly 1/2 an acre) on which I built a 40' x 25' garage (plus it was a "highset" house - not very flash, but there was plenty of storage under it).
When I moved to our new place (which is a larger, nicer house - but on a much smaller block), I had to demolish an 18' x 25' carport (with a small enclosed workshop at the back) and build the largest garage that would legally fit in the available space.
Then I had to cram everything into the much, much smaller space (I may have said "I'll fix that later") - then our family got larger, house needed various renovations, my (paid) work hours increased & generally "life" kept me from getting to sort the garage out (it still is).
I don't have many regrets and I'm not complaining, I love my life - I just wish there were more hours in a day.
But as you said "A few minutes here and there each week and you'll be surprised how much progress..." - which is what I try to achieve. :)

Tell us more about the cars!

Hey Sean, nothing for you to get too excited about (no Skylarks ) - actually nothing very exciting at all for anyone living on the North American continent.
I've got 3 cars crammed into that little garage - a '74 Impala, a '65 Impala 9-seater wagon and a '76 (HX) Holden Statesman.

Mine doesn't grab the tape.... She will usually say " hey hun I was thinking...... " LOL

Hey Gerard, I am taking notes of many of the space saving ideas on your thread - although I have a larger space to begin with, I do have 3 "future projects" shoved in there (and a lot of other "stuff"). :(
I have put the "...going thru stuff little by little..." system into practice, although it's closer to "very little by very little".

Hi Mark, just found your intro. Looks like you have a couple of projects on the go, statesman and what looks to be a 65 or 66 chev and a cool looking dragster pushbike. Be great to see some progress on the shed once your wife stops adding to the list, look forward to a thread about your shed in the other section mate. Lee

Hi Lee, the '65 is a wagon & I built the pushbike when I was about 13 - it was a 26" originally and I put the seat, sissy-bar, extended fork & 20" wheels on it (still the "long-stroke" pedal crank, so I had to coast around corners so that the pedals didn't hit the ground ) - the first handle bars that I put on it were extended about 6" as well (important tip - don't trust a 13 year old's welding ability.).

I will start a thread on the clean-up when I have a bit more to show for it.

I am giving serious consideration to starting one Sean.

To get enough material, I may have to start with the garage at my previous house (I know I have construction photos of it at least) and perhaps show some house renovations, etc. as well.

I'm still working at tidying-up my garage - a square foot at a time.

The main trouble is I have to shuffle stuff around to get to where I want to do something. :willy_nil

If I do start a garage thread, I'll figure out how to put a link in my signature line - so you'll know about it when I visit your one.

I have some good news and some bad news - first, the good news...

Because it's raining outside today and my planned activities were to be outside- I scanned about a dozen old photos instead. :)

But the bad news is...

Because it's raining outside today - so everybody's wanting to use the computers!

But there is hope...

My wife will be taking our youngest daughter to her part-time job in a couple of hours, so that will be 2 down (until Lyn returns).

Hopefully, my son may decide to move from the upstairs computer to the Xbox or Wi by the time Lyn returns, so I might be able to migrate to that one then. :eyecrazy:

(I'm writing this on my tablet, so I can't do much until I have access to a real computer).

I'll go out on a limb and say "pics following" ...
...(fingers crossed).

Well my window of opportunity (for computer access) was cut short yesterday when visitors arrived, but I did manage to get some photos loaded into an album.
