Great site, I will be hanging out here. I'm building and addition to my garage and will be looking for tips and ideas such as lighting and floor finishes.
Just trying to get thru zoning and building departments. Been working on this for 7 months now and should have my permit very soon.

Depending on where in the metro area you live your permit could take longer - or hopefully shorter.

Also when you start looking for tips and ideas, let everyone know what kind of work you plan on doing in your garage - that always helps.

“Chicagoland” is a VERY broad area, that includes MANY different suburbs, cities, and counties. You can easily travel well over fifty miles from downtown Chicago and still be in “Chicagoland”. And codes, permitting, etc vary greatly within that “area”.

Welcome... also from “Chicagoland”. Thankfully, where I am is much more relaxed on these issues.
