Hello, I'm Mike from CT and a long time lurker. Like quite a few of you I am into cars and am currently working on restoring a 69 Le Mans with a 69 Grand Prix waiting in the wings (hence my username). I am a former auto tech now working as a computer programer.

In 2006 while I was serving in Afghanistan with the National Guard my wife found, bought, and moved into our current house. The property included a heated 30x30 pole barn, a pond, and a small shed. I am looking to replace the shed and concrete pad behind it (from a prevous shed) with a 14x26 garage (same footprint as current shed and contrete) to free up some room in the pole barn. Now that I am starting on this project I have some questions to ask, so I felt I needed to introduce myself first.

Mike

I have been taking many mental notes and showing pictures posted here to show the wife what I would like to do.

Welcome to the forums.. You do realize that being from CT can be either a liability or an assett............ depending on how you play your cards.. I'm in the upper Northeast corner, better known as the "Quiet Corner"... :lol_hitti

"liability or an assett" In life in general or as it relates to the
Garage Journal commuinity?

BTW I've been in CT all my life grew up east of the river, and am now living west of the river in Litchfied county. It seems I am just moving west along RT 6.

Ha- I'm guessing both.

Welcome! This place is great but VERY bad for the wallet, especially if you like tools. It sounds like you have a pretty great place, so don't forget to appease the masses with pics every so often!

I don't need the Garage Journal to help me feed my tool addiction I can do that all on my own. I have tool box (MAC) full of Mac and Snap-on tools from my days as an auto tech. What really killed me was a metal shaping class I tool in January. Since then I have bought three drill presses, a metal lathe, and a plasma cutter all to help me build some more tools. I have had to stop myself from buying tool because it is preventing me from restoring my car.

Willie,

Should I just "Come on Over"?
