Hello everyone - I live in the Dayton OH area, and am a long-time car and motorcycle enthusiast.

As I'm sure many of you will attest - sometimes the tools and workspace themselves become the focus rather than the original projects that started us down this road.

For example - a couple years ago I invested some money in upgrading a building that was unheated; I created a self-contained room within that building that has 6" walls and a dropped ceiling with R9 insulation; I can now work in that space comfortably year-round even if it has no permanent furnace solution (I use an indsutrial torpedo heater to raise the temps when I start a work session, then roll that unit out via the overhead door and maintain the temps with a free-standing kerosene heater.

One last thing - I'd love to start a regular meeting of folks in this area who would like to get together and discuss fabrication techniques. I'd be happy to be the organizer and setup a spot for us to meet, so if you are a Daytonite and are interested please reach out to me via e-mail and I will reply.

Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the GJ. You should have a look into the social groups on the GJ.

They are kind of awkward to find...
Maybe put them as threads on the as the last subforum..
Under "community" in the forum header
Actually I just started hitting some of those threads..Seems most are basically dead

Thanks for posting that guys. Yes, not easy to find. The social groups should be used more as they are great for local things. I guess some are more active than others.

Kevin54 is a legend and has a **** load of posts. I've never been able to figure how the guy has the time to create that many posts.

:dunno:
