Hello everyone,

So, I have been dreaming about building a dream garage - something that can hold 5-6 cars comfortably with a loft and a lift - you know - a place you would never want to leave. Anyhoo, I was hunting the internet for weeks, and I finally found this place.

This is an outstanding forum - lots of awesome DIYers and fellow hobbyists! I just wanted to come say hello and introduce myself. I work at WPAFB as a developmental engineer - earned my EE from the University of West Florida (UWF), and am currently about to enter my 2nd of 4 years as a 2Lt.

My fiancee' (one e or two, I dunno) loves cars, tools, guns, pinball, and other such fun goodies - and she's about to get her EE from UWF as well - we actually met in Engineering Economy and got together in summer 2010. She'll be moving on up here to Dayton this summer.

Anyhoo, we are and plan on being DINKS (Double Income No Kids); we cordially say that our cars are our kids. She has a 2006 Ford Mustang that she loves and does most her own work on. I have my 94 Nissan XE truck that I've had since high school, and I continually restore and own a 1981 DeLorean - both of which I do my own work on. Had the Nissan since 1998 and the DeLorean since 2003. Our dreams are to have a garage that's about 3000-5000 sq feet with a lift and a 2nd floor loft/kitchen area. For cars, we want to acquire a 1972 Cadillac El Dorado, a 1967 Chevy Impala, and build a 1963-1965 Shelby Cobra and a ratrod of some sort like a 22 T-bucket or a chopped 1930 Ford Model A.

One day at a time; we have lofty dreams, and we know it's "one day at a time."

Anyhoo, I am at the base right now so I cannot share/post pictures here, but I will later as there are a BUNCH of topics I have been reading here and want to join in on, and I know I hit the motherload of great knowledge for everything garage related!

Cheers!

Welcome to the GJ, from out in the Englewood area!!

Hey, you're not too far from me at all! Cool to meet some people so close!

Welcome, Dayton is a great area! I'm a graduate of UD and my wife a graduate of WSU.

You should be Able to find some property to build on pretty easily in the area.

Enjoy!!!

Wow, WSU is like - right down the road from me! I live in base housing right off of Col Glenn Hwy - WSU is maybe 10 minutes from me at most! We would love to snag some land and build our dream garage and home on it. To do that, I'll pretty much have to hang up my career in the AF as "every 4 years" they'll transfer me around ... ):

I got a couple airmen that I could "coax" into helping me ;). Maybe if I tell em' "All right guys, if we all get 90's on our PT tests and you help me build, no mandatory PT for 3 months!"

Hey, it's not too bad of an idea ;)..

Thanks guys! Wow, many people here are from Ohio! That's pretty cool. I'm used to living in Pensacola where it was "no man's land" - Ohio - it's like the farthest point is 4 hours away. Cool to meet everyone! Don't forget to go say hi to "Little Red" in her intro thread - she's my fiancee and a total garage girl too :) !
