Hi from an oldie in Devon England. saw this site from a link at finescalerr, to Thomas's Epic thread.
Now I dont even have a garage., But I lived at/in two when a child, worked in two when a teen/twenty, driven a mere 3/4 million miles, car, taxi, van, lorry. tanker, tipper, furniture Luton, with trailer rig, etc etc, so have been a customer at many a filling station, wayside garage all over Uk from Lands End to Southend, John O groats to Anglesey, and had to deal with breakdowns & garages at all places inbetween!!!
Done my own engine rebuilds, fabricated my own trailers( Dont think you can do that anymore under EU rules), Customised my own vehicles, not cosmetically but, efficiency wise.
reading http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51567 reminded me of how much I had forgotten, eg, air pipe on forecourt, so you could get on with your work inside but still know if a customer had arrived for petrol, no self service in those days
