Howdy! I've been a lurker for a while, but now that the "garagemajhal" is complete enough to work in (when it's warm enough) I thought I'd join in. I have built a monitor style barn that is 32 x 60. The center bay is 32 x 30 x 16 tall to accommodate the new extra tall Atlas lift. I just did my first standing oil change on our '59 Apache yesterday, which was just awesome. No more crawling around on the ground!

Future plans include siding and a heat source for the radiant tube in the floor, and a compressed air distribution system.

About a year or so ago I saw a cool heavy duty steel workbench on a link here that had bottle jacks on either end for a wheel mechanism to make it portable, if anyone knows where I can find the link again that would be great, and thanks.
Jeff

Welcome 59 chief...from Ohio! That picture was just posted again and it can be found.....I think ..... If you do a search for "benches" at the top of the page, or someone will post it for ya. Good luck. And oh, real nice looking shop you have there!

59: i can't say where the link is for this welding table that i think you are going to build, but i did save the pictures because i'm planning on building 2 of them so i can use them like a saw horse on big things or just have one at the ready if the other one has a project on it. can we really have too many steel tables in our shops?

is this the one? i'm planning on maybe adding a few things to it like a couple clamp racks like this other table has.

sounds like a nice garage and shop and please post up more pictures of outside and in when you get a chance.

welcome

59: i can't tell you the last time I've seen a lake without a house on it's shoreline. nice truck and garage too. keep posting pictures if you wish and have a few more because we always appreciate them.

I thought that might be the welding table you liked. there is a small thread on it, but i'm pretty sure that there are not any specs in that thread so you'll have to build off the picture. or I might start a thread when i build mine.

i'm going to put one of these vises on that table when i build it and maybe the Wilton 606 SJ that weighs 190 pounds that is sitting on the far right of this row of big vises. i thought i'd add one of my pictures to give your thread a little color too. i hope that's ok.

cheers

Nice vise collection there Drivesitfar, I'll be stuck with a twenty year old Costco Chinese vise but at least I now know what the bench will look like, thanks again.
Cypher, I'm in northern Hancock county but I can see over the line from here! I think it still qualifies

Happy New Year!
It's a Frankentruck. The motor,trans/transfer, and axels are from a '78 Blazer or K10. P.O. did most of the conversion. Also has power "steering"and brakes with discs up front. In some ways I wish it were a NAPCO mainly because it would be worth more to some folks, but although the body is all original I can do what I want with it and not feel guilty about messing up a original "survivor".
It was barely drivable when we got it, bent rear axel, different ratios in front and rear diffs, and a fairly long list of little things but it's getting better all the time and will someday get a frame off refreshing. Now that I have someplace to work on it, it will be a joy to do.
