Hi Guys;
Great forum you got going here. I have ben lurking for a while. Recently built a new house with attached 2 car and a detached 2 car with loft. Attached about 20 x 20 & the detached is 20 x 24. Supposed to be bigger but the town got involved with height issues, and inorder to keep the pitch I had to reduce the size:mad:
I told my builder that I wanted to dye the concrete, he talked me out of it based on the fact it would be sealed, and thgis being the latest and greatest, there was no need to dye.
Fast forward 2 yrs. Garage floors are ****. If you even think of moving a jack across them, or any thing else, or mearly step on a pebble with your foot you scratch the finish, let alone salt residue off my wife's car.
So do I have to remove the sealer before I can think of epoxy or some other solution?
By the way, both garage's are plumbed for infloor heat. The attached works like a smack in the mouth. I had hoped to install an on demand water heater to heat the floor in detached (as well as a line for the upstairs workshop) but get conflicting reports everywhere. Bousch.com would not even discuss electric options, propane or NG only.
Anyhow I digress, this is an intro forum. I have as vehicles a 94 YJ-winter beater, a 2001 Acura Integra, that is only driven in summer ~60,00klms (not that I want to keep it, just I drive the Jeep in winter) a 1977 MGB that I have restored over the past 10 years. A 1991 Subaru Legacy AWD Turbo that I bought on ebay after it was featured on War of the Wheels. (A TV show that pits two teams with identical cars against each other.) My particular week they built rally cars. Oh and I (we) won Targa Newfoundland Grand Touring Equipped last year, 2 weeks after I bought the car. Upgrading with a cage/harness and stuff. Registered for Targa Class this year.
I will get some pics of my floor, and everything else soon. Great forum. Keep it up.
Some fantastic garages here, if I can just apply 10% of what I have seen........
Thanks for sharing:beer:

Hey Andy...greetings from about as far away one can get but still be in Canada!

Check out the flooring section of the forum - there are numerous posts in there covering prepping of slabs for epoxy, and discussions of the merits of different brands and types of epoxy coatings. You'll definitely need to do something, like grinding a bit of the surface to get rid of the sealer, and that's been discussed there as well.

Good luck with it!

Thanks for the reply. You are right there are some great ideas, and great garages to be envious over here!!! I am glad (and my banker probably pissed) that I didn't find this site earlier:)
Yes I will have to remove the sealer from what I can gather on what I have read, based on how it comes off I might just wait awhile and see whats left after this summer.
Thanks for the great site guys, I am working on a website with some pics. I will let you know when I get them up there. Now to check out some lighting....have a good one.
