Hello,

My name is Tanner. I am coming to you from a chilly central Iowa. A little about my current garage situation:
Was lucky enough a about 2 years ago to purchase an acreage south of Des Moines, IA. The property was a foreclosure, however it turned out to be pretty decent, no leaky pipes, no holes in walls, etc.; just wear and tear from lack of upkeep over the years.

One of the most attractive parts of the property for me was the 30x40 detached garage. It was a huge step for me coming from a standard 2 car attached garage in the city (plus the house has a 2 car attached as well). Out front features a 20x40 pad that wasn't finished very well and has features like cracks, roughness, and water that comes onto it from 2 sides towards the garage doors.

The building features 3 9x7 garage doors and a single walk in. Inside is all insulated walls covered in chipboard and an uninsulated exposed rafter ceiling.

I first came to the journal due to my wish of adding a car lift; with the around 9' ceiling the garage is simply too short, and after lots of research online i came to the conclusion it just was not worth it with the current building. Now the plan is to make improvements to what i have and if that becomes more vital i may add an additional tall bay to the current building.

Currently working on adding a ceiling and insulation. Looking like Dura-panels & blow in is the best fit for my budget. Just recently got the 80's propane furnace started, doesn't seem very efficient but once the ceiling is in should do the job no problem; is a 75k BTU unit.

Looking forward to continuing my garage journey on the page!
