Hi after many years of dreaming my shop was built this summer 2025. I had poor communication with my city on the size restrictions with the city that delayed building almost 10 years. After finally being given the OK I quickly progressed in building. I had found from word of mouth an Amish family of brothers who built my 48x80x16 shop. I have had plumbing and electrical ran and waiting until next spring to pour the concrete as finances come in. I don’t plan to barrow any money so this could take 2-3 years to complete. Most of this will be DIY built. The main use will be entertaining friends and family area and working on the race cars.

I like the building and the setting. Congrats on getting it going. Hopefully I’ll be moving back to Iowa in a year or two.

Welcome to GJ !! Shop looks great !!

If you plan to keep this build updated ask a staff member to move it to the gallery thread. We all like pictures and seeing what others do is how a place like GJ grows and gets stronger.

I spent the the summer into fall putting in the driveway. I have a little 1025r Deere that I have put down 180 tons of road base with geo fabric under. Ran gutters into pipes under ground flowing into a large underground dry well. I ran 2 inch foam board around the base board 2 feet deep for in floor heat insulation. I had the gas, plumbing and sewer bored to the building. I then ran the plumbing for a RV dump, bathroom and utility room drain. I plan to have a 24x24 loft living room with bathroom and utility room underneath with a bar underneath that will walk out to a patio. I am currently bring the inside up to grade for spring concrete. I am debating on running conduit in slab for wiring vs in the walls and over the truss. The thing I am currently doing is building my smart electrical relay cabinet for electrical so I can run outside and inside lights from phone and security cameras viewing. I have not done much AC electrical myself so I have been learning as much as I can enjoying learning more.

I drag race and work on cars. I plan to have the loft, bathroom and entertainment area corner 24x24 then the rest will be for rig parking on the far side with lift and race car spots for working. It’s my dream race shop and hang out.
