Hello from Lopez Island

Hi folks -
I'm a couple of short years away from retiring, and I'm building our 30x48 shop on Lopez Island ( 15 miles due east of Victoria, BC) at long last. I've got way too many hobbies, and do machining, welding, and even woodworking, as well as working on our ancient Airstream trailer and a 26' steam launch. We're on a island w/ ferry service from the mainland, so projects require some degree of planning if one is to keep moving. RIght now I've got some questions about insulation, vapor barriers, etc, so I'll make that a separate post.

Welcome aboard. You will enjoy the wisdom/knowledge base the GJ crowd can supply. Once you have a few posts you should be able to do some pics. These guys love the visual route. But don’t expect much action on this thread tonight. These guys go to bed early. Not to mention east vs west coast time spread.

There are some pictures of our Airstream on https://tinpickle.blogspot.com/, a blog my wife used to update pretty frequently. I did mostly mechanical work on this project; my wife did all the woodworking aside from installing the butcher block countertops - my arms are longer!
I fixed the rear-end separation frame issues, patched the rotten floor areas, changed out the torsion axles, installed hydraulic disc brakes, added solar, and installed a marine propane fireplace, LED lighting, inverter, built a battery box, .... The trailer needs work again; the AC (original from 1971!) failed to start at Burning Man this year (not that we needed it after the rain started!), the original vents have become difficult to use and one broken, etc... After the shop is done and I retire....
