I hope this is the introduction thread... I'm new here. but not new to home projects. I've been in my "starter" house for 32 years and just like it so I stay. I'm not an experienced "fixer-upper", each project is pretty much new. I've done a lot of different things, but seldom more than one twice, so each project is new to me.

My career was as a telecommunications manager at a US Federal Agency, so all my home projects are as an amateur. The most technical job I ever held was as an Assistant Manager at a Market Tire franchise. So I have to research and study any home projects I do as new things.

As I said, my house is 32 years old and some things are failing. I'm dealing with the minor things well enough, and I understand older stuff well.

But new technologies are outside even my little experience. Things I thought I understood are no longer true. So I'm going to be asking for some advice, but also reporting on things I've learned.

I'm experienced at discussion forums and know the rules. I know I'm a newbie here. I sure won't be seeking to upset anyone. In 2 other subject forums, I'm one of the experts; here I am not.

So I'll be asking questions unless there is something very specific I've learned about

Hello from Baltimore - don't be afraid to ask questions, many of us are happy to provide answers. The vast majority of us are generally friendly anyways, you have to push our various buttons for quite some time before we get rankled.

Where in southern Maryland? You might have some fellow GJers as neighbors...
