Well, I've been lurking around GJ for a few months now, ever since I bought my new house that has your standard 2 car garage attached to it. I have big plans for turning the garage into a kick-*** workshop/auto repair shop. My first project is to build a small (8'x16') shed in the back yard so I can get all my lawn junk out of the garage. I'll post up some pictures of the garage and the shed (just pored the footers over the weekend)
I have to say, this is one of the coolest websites I've ever seen, and I already have a folder full of ideas I'm stealing from people here (thanks in advance).
A little bit about me:
I work at the University of MD as a business manager, but I used to run a research lab where I studied the behavior and neurophysiology of decapod crustaceans (crayfish)... before I got into being a scientist I put myself through college by building swimming pools for the seven years it took me to finish my Biology degree. Between building pools and basically growing up on a farm I developed a passion for building/fixing things. I have a basic mentality that I think many of you here would agree with; "Why buy something for $20 that I can build for $40 and get a few hours of fun out of it." I'm also a jeep owner, so that brings a special sort of weirdness to the equation
...Anyway, I hope to contribute more than just the odd post here and there in the future, and I'll keep this thread updated with my latest projects once I get started. I just got my shed going, so I'll start a build thread for that in the next few days, and once that's done, I'll get my garage build going too.
