Hello all,

I am just getting started on my dream shop. Actually it is a bit smaller than I want, but the house we are buying is only on 1.27 acres so I have to be a bit more conservative (no more 40 x 80 barn). I want to build a 24-26 x 40, 3 stall garage with a workshop at one end. I have a TON of woodworking equipment, it addition to all of my car stuff (oh yea, and boating stuff too). I also am getting into 7.5 inch railway in my spare time and after work. Anyway, hopefully I can tap the expects here for advice as I go through the planning and building.

Anyway, good building and Happy New Year to everyone!

Welcome to GJ! My shop is 24' X 40' with a 6' X 20' bump out in the back (I found it a little tight at 24' deep to pull car engines). I also found out you can't build them big enough (mine is full of -------stuff!).

Welcome from Kalamazoo!

As you will read on here, go as big as you can. It's never going to be big enough, and adding on later isn't easy or cheap.
