Hello everyone, I've been lurking around here for several years, figured it was time to become a "real" person. I've enjoyed seeing what folks here do for fun and hobbies, read some great opinions, seen some good advice. Thanks for letting me join!
My Dad got me started on a lifetime of automotive interests, working on the family car(s) with him when I was about 7 years old. Dad was career Army, an accomplished mechanic and a jack of all trades. Lived many places in the USA and Europe and I finally settled in MI in the late 60's. I went on to become a factory trained VW/Porsche mechanic, owned my own German car repair shop for some years, then left it all to go into a business in the pro racing field. That was almost 30 years ago...anyway I ramble... I am a collector of (too) many things..old VW's, old Porsche's, slot cars, gas station memorabilia, old toys...etc. I've been planning for some time to build a replica 50's era Sinclair gas station front on one of my barns and hope to actually get to it over the next couple years. See you all around!

Welcome to the GJ from sunny Grand Rapids!
I got a chuckle out of the use of "sunny" to describe GR !

My daughter went to college at Grand Valley, just outside of GR. (They now have a campus in the city, mostly for night classes.) During the first big snow storm of her Freshman year she called home to say home much snow had already fallen and that they likely would have no school the following. She was SHOCKED when all the streets and sidewalks of the Allendale campus were cleared in time to walk to 9AM class !

Welcome to the GJ from sunny Grand Rapids!

I'm an old VW guy too - spent a few bucks at Speed Buggy in GR and then at Al's new place in Wyoming over the years.

Did you happen to go to the German Auto Service Open house/car show this past weekend?
