Hello,

New guy here from TN. I have had old garages and new garages and even shop buildings, but now that I am retired and need a "hobby", my wife wants the garage attached to the house (16x22) for her stained glass/quilting studio, I get to build a new garage for myself.

Working within a budget is tough, but things will be very useful. My 20x24 will allow me to play with the cars, bikes, household stuff, some ham radio and for me a new tack - steampunk things, some art type woodwork and turning big pieces of steel and wood in to small remnants.

I have tons of ideas from the GJ already and more to come.

thanks for having me.

Things are moving along fairly quick. Walls up and the trusses set today, a few small things finished. Hope to get the roof and shingles done tomorrow, and the siding Wednesday. Door friday and electric next week, if all goes well

I am in Clarkrange, about 15 minutes north of I-40. Nice area, we love it, my son is at Vanderbilt working on PHD and we are about 1.5 hours from him, close enough to visit, but not get on his nerves.

We got it shingled today, and should have the vinyl done Wed, then electric inspection Friday. Talked to the door guy today, had to order the one we wanted and with Labor Day, will be at least a week for him to get it, so I can not "move" in yet. But I will be busy sealing the floor, finishing my part of the electric and getting some shelves built.

Thanks

Garage construction completed today, door is ordered and should be in next week. The trench was inspected and approved, and electrical for the garage and grounding in the trench in the am if all goes well. Keeping my fingers crossed as I did all the electrical.

Minimal electric right now, but more to come. Nice job by my builder and it matches the house down to the gable vents, shingles and roof pitch. Wife is taking over the attached garage (since it is fully finished) for her quilt and stained glass studio.

Mods - feel free to move this to the appropriate forum, since I have the pics here.

Final electric inspection today, and the trench, panel and meter base are all good to go. Next step tying in to the local power company...could be a few days or a couple weeks, they say. But all the inspections are done.

Gutters were done today and door to arrive mid week, if all goes well. Almost done.

Thanks for all the support and encouragement. I have a project all lined up, as soon as I get in...actually several.
